Regular night duties are part of the role.

Each assistant has their own room, and the house has three bathrooms. Free time is agreed in advance with the team. The home is smoke-free.

Start date: 18 November 2026.

What to expect

What this assignment means in practice

The key points from this assignment's description and how to prepare for them.

  • Memory problems or dementia

A steady daily routine, short and calm sentences and patience with repeated questions all help. You can talk through difficult situations with your permanent coordinator.

  • Wheelchair and transfers

Transfers are about technique, not strength. Before you travel, ask which aids the household has, such as a hoist, a care bed or a transfer board.

  • Caring for two people

Each person may need different help, so agree on duties and the daily plan with the family from the start.

  • Help at night

The description mentions support at night. Ask your coordinator how often it is needed and when you can rest during the day.

  • Non-smoker

The family expects a non-smoker or smoking only outside the house. Say openly in your application whether you smoke — it makes matching easier.

  • Everyday German

Required level: conversational. Before you travel, brush up on phrases for meals, personal care and shopping. Centrum Eurokontakt also runs a German course for caregivers (taught in Polish).

  • Open to men

This offer is also open to male caregivers. Describe your experience in caring for older people in your application.
