Deutsch für Betreuungskräfte

What does the German test for caregivers assess?

The test checks vocabulary and sentence patterns used in elderly care: meals, hygiene, health, safety and conversations with the senior's family.

The A0–B1+ result is an estimate. A recruitment call may additionally assess listening and spontaneous speaking.

What does the test cover?

It focuses on German used during a real care assignment, not random grammar rules.

Daily needs

Meals, shopping, daily routines and calm conversations.

Health and care

Wellbeing, pain, medication, mobility and emergencies.

Family and doctor

Passing on short, precise information about a senior.

Clear sentences

Word order and grammar needed for understandable communication.

What German level does a caregiver need?

Requirements vary by assignment. More independent communication generally opens access to more jobs.

A0–A1

Basic phrases

Simple instructions and everyday words for jobs with low language requirements.

A2

Daily communication

Talking about needs, wellbeing and familiar routines.

B1

Greater independence

Reporting events, family calls and unexpected situations.

How should you interpret the result?

Easy questions have a lower weight; A2 and B1 tasks count more. This limits the impact of lucky guesses on basic questions.

The test does not replace a conversation with a teacher or recruiter. Use it as a free diagnosis of strengths and areas to practise.

Frequently asked questions about the German test

Yes. You receive the result and explanations immediately, without an account or email address.

How long does it take?

Most people complete the 12 questions in about 5 minutes. There is no time limit.

Is the result an official certificate?

No. It is a practical estimate, not a certified language exam.

Can I work as a caregiver without German?

Some jobs have low language requirements, but basic phrases improve safety and comfort.

Which level gives access to more jobs?

A2, and especially B1, usually supports more independent communication and a wider choice.

Can I repeat the test?

Yes, as often as you like — for example after another period of study.

Why does the test use care scenarios?

Safe, clear communication matters at work. The test therefore combines grammar with real situations.
