We are looking for a care assistant for a senior woman living in a detached house in Rosslar (Südharz) in Saxony-Anhalt. The position is open-ended and long-term, starting immediately.
Tasks include support with personal hygiene, including showering with assistance, dressing, toilet visits, intimate hygiene and changing incontinence products. The senior needs help getting up from the bed or chair into a wheelchair and walking with a rollator, especially on stairs. The care assistant also reminds her to drink regularly and to take her medication. She speaks little and needs time to answer, and her eyesight is severely limited, so patience and calm communication are important. Household tasks include cooking, laundry, cleaning, shopping in town, as well as walks and small activities.
An elderly husband who needs partial support also lives in the household, and the daughter lives in the same town. The house is not age-friendly and has steps. Night duties occur only occasionally, not every night.
The care assistant has the upper floor of the house with about four rooms at her disposal and shares the bathroom. A sauna outside the house can also be used. Smoking is allowed only outside the living area. A driving licence is welcome (for shopping) but not required.
Requirements
- German at an intermediate (communicative) level
- Driving licence welcome but not required
- Experience in home care for older people (an advantage)
- Patience, empathy and a calm manner
- Willingness to help with personal hygiene, dressing and mobility
- Willingness to take occasional night duties
- Smoking only outside the living area
What to expect
What this assignment means in practice
The key points from this assignment's description and how to prepare for them.

Help at night

Non-smoker
The family expects a non-smoker or smoking only outside the house. Say openly in your application whether you smoke — it makes matching easier.
Everyday German
